Auto repair

I love living in the northeast. The air is nice, the light is lovely, the seasons hold delightful variation with the extremes almost never being too extreme, and the mountains are high enough to offer gorgeous views and not so high as to be strenuous to climb.

But I hate what it does to my car. Living in a region that regularly has snow and salt on the roads means that do-it-yourself auto repair consists of: 7% diagnosing the problem; 3% figuring out a solution; 4% finding the parts; and 86% trying to get one piece of rusty metal to separate from another piece of rusty metal, while they desperately cling as though they will never find true love again.

If I lived in Arizona, I could probably take my whole car apart with a Leatherman tool.

Anyway, the car starts again. Go me.

Yeah, my car won't pass inspection next year thanks to the rust damage eating its way through the lower panels.

What, your car has to have a working floor to pass state inspection there? Bah, humbug. Being able to touch the road with your sneakers doesn't have any significant deleterious effects on the environment.
