Thanks so much for this post - as a Jew living in Canada, with mostly lefty friends, this has come up a lot. Also just want to clarify, the reason the Christian right supports Israel is because according to Revelation, the second coming of Christ can't happen until the Jews own all of Israel. This is why they are the ones that fund the settlers more than any other group. Now, this would also means, that the majority of the Jews will be wiped out when Christ returns and only those who recognize Christ as king will be spared... the average Israelite who has no issue with Christians supporting the settlements (not to say that the average Israelite DOES welcome Christian support) just sort of rolls the eyes with a 'sure, ok... yeah, like THAT's gonna happen' so aren't too worried about it.
