When I was a kid, I received two copies of "Double Dragon" for the NES. One of them is still in its shrink wrap, and I got it back last year in a box of stuff from my old bedroom. I'm finally getting around to selling it on eBay. Collectors tell me that it's worth quite a bit, but right now (with, admittedly, 8 days to go), the top bid is under $30. So if you have any interest in collectibles, you might pop in and see if you can get a sweet deal on this. (If I were a collector, I wouldn't sell it at all; I'd put it on display in a UV-protective case.)

"Weird Al" Yankovic performed in Albany this July. I don't normally spring for concert tickets, but hey, it's Weird Al (my favorite performing artist ever), and I hadn't seen him since the "Running With Scissors" tour. The show was phenomenal!

My "band" performed at a barbecue, which was fun. Our members got very busy (one is getting married), so we haven't met since, but that will likely ease up after the summer.

I got to help out at the Reptile Adventure booth at Saratoga Family Fun day again this year. I put my photos on Facebook.

I backed the Kickstarter for "The Princess Who Saved Herself," figuring that I could give the book to my niece. When it came in, my brother-in-law told me that he had also backed the Kickstarter, so they already had a copy. I was amused, and found some other folks who appreciated the book. (Note: It's a great children's book.)

To make up for only seeing family during an earlier trip to the Boston area, I gave friends plenty of notice of our more recent trip, and got to see several of them. We even visited with some friends of friends (who were all very friendly) on the way home, to do some research.

I've spent an awful lot of time taking care of people lately.

Despite keeping busy, and not getting out nearly as much as I would like, the walks I've had recently have been fantastic. Karen and I saw about sixty hawks circling above one section of the Albany Pine Bush. Karen, Shirah, and I wandered around Five Rivers: We fed about ten turtles from the bridge, and saw five frogs at the lily pond; a fawn stared at us from near the path as we passed, a duck with ducklings swam upstream, and a great blue heron wandered in Beaver Pond; we met a friendly dog, and (on the way home) spotted a woodpecker with a bright red head. Tracey and I swam at Cherry Plain State Park until our legs were tired, and then took a three hour walk. (That walk had a few down sides, but we did find some utterly delicious raspberries.) Alone at the Lisha Kill Natural Area on a hot day, I hung flip-flops from my belt, swapped them with my sneakers at the creek, and waded quite a distance upstream; I also watched a snake grab a frog and start to eat it. Karen and I saw a turtle swimming amid a school of huge catfish by Peebles Island, and later spotted some deer.
